Kentucky received a commitment during the weekend from tight end Darren Dowdell from Grady High School in Atlanta.
Dowdell gave his commitment to Kentucky while taking an unofficial visit to Lexington to watch Kentucky play South Carolina.
“It felt like home as soon as I set foot on the campus,” Dowdell told the Louisville Courier-Journal. “Then they started playing, and at halftime there were up (17-7). A couple of people asked me for my autograph. That’s how I knew I had to make it official. It made me feel good.”
Dowdell gave his commitment to Kentucky coach Joker Phillips following his postgame press conference.
“It cheered him up a little bit,” Dowdell said. “…He was real excited. All the coaches came and congratulated me.”
